Story + Content Lead
With 15 years of experience in strategic communications and content marketing, Laura has honed her expertise across diverse technology sectors, from cybersecurity to health. As Story & Content Lead, Laura excels at transforming complex B2B technology topics into clear, compelling narratives that drive engagement and impact. Laura’s talent for weaving disparate threads from across an organization – from new products and partnerships to expert perspectives and leadership vision – into cohesive content strategies is essential to cultivating the customer awareness and interest that fuel sustained business growth. Laura’s experience includes seven years with Booz Allen Hamilton, where she provided strategic communications consulting to federal clients at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Department of Defense (DoD), and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). Her background includes brand and message development, executive communications, social marketing, event planning, and digital marketing including website development and social media – further complementing her holistic approach to storytelling and content strategy.

What do you do at Big Valley Marketing?
As a Story + Content Lead, I have the absolute pleasure of helping our clients unearth and tell the stories that help them win. Working alongside Big Valley’s client partners, media + influencer experts, social media gurus, and data wizards, I help strategize what stories will resonate with the right audience, at the right time – and then I make those stories sing.

I’ve worn many hats in my career as a communicator, from calling reporters to planning big events. But what I’ve always done the best, and loved the most, is writing. And that’s exactly what Big Valley’s team-of-experts model allows me to do, full time. That means our clients get my very best, day in and day out. And they get the same from every expert at Big Valley.

Equally extraordinary is our company culture. I feel truly valued and respected at Big Valley, both personally and professionally. I come to work every day – virtually, of course – excited to collaborate with brilliant communicators and do the very best work for our clients.

Yep, it’s pretty dreamy.

What’s one thing fun or surprising/unexpected about you?
I’m very fortunate to have lived and traveled all over the world. I learned to walk and talk in England. I had chicken pox in France. I performed at the Sydney Opera House and missed my 16th birthday crossing the dateline. I met my husband in Paris – and then a whole new adventure began. Together we’ve lived in shoeboxes from London to Frankfurt to DC. We’ve ridden camels, catamarans, and uncomfortably small aircraft. (We ate camel, too. Not the same camel we rode earlier.) We’ve gambled in Macau, bought my wedding dress in Spain, and danced until sunrise everywhere from Panama to Portugal. It’s been quite a ride. Domestic bliss has kept us grounded for a few years, but we can’t wait to get back out there with our daughters in tow, igniting in them the courage and curiosity that we hope will take them on countless adventures of their own.
