Top Conversations in Tech: July 2025

By Master Login | Market Intelligence, Top Conversations | Comments are Closed | 26 August, 2025 | 0

Welcome to Top Conversations in Tech, where we isolate the hottest trends, falling stars and shifting market dynamics to help technology marketers maximize their relevance. This month’s data reflects news and blog citations in July 2025 versus June 2025 and July 2024. We currently monitor 270+ topics, with data and insights going back to March 2019.

While June’s conversation was grounded in enterprise AI enablement, July’s tech dialogue was shaped by momentum shifts. Bitcoin overtook Artificial Intelligence for the #1 spot, marking the first time in months that the AI macro-topic has not led the tech conversation. The shift does not signal a decline in AI interest. Instead, it reflects growing attention to implementation — particularly infrastructure, operations, and policy frameworks that underpin AI. The shift is visible across increases in #31 Cloud Computing (+35% MoM), #70 Process Automation (+23% MoM), and #182 Private AI (+99% MoM).

    Bitcoin Dominated—Because of Regulation

#1 Bitcoin rose 12% from June 2025 to 452K+ mentions, outpacing #2 Artificial Intelligence (up 10% to 447K+). #1 Bitcoin’s gain stemmed from, in part, President Trump’s signing of the GENIUS Act and the announcement that July 14th would be “Crypto Week.” As a result, #6 Cryptocurrencies also climbed 17% MoM. #11 Blockchain (+5%) and #47 NFTs (+12%) saw moderate increases—hinting at broader crypto ecosystem engagement even as most 2025 volumes remain below 2024 highs.

AI Stays Strong — With AI Agents Continuing to Rise

#2 Artificial Intelligence held its ground with steady overall volume and was supported by emerging subtopics:

    • #12 AI Agents (+14% MoM) continue to rise quickly. As a reminder, AI Agents ranked 71 back in November 2024, meaning it jumped 59 ranks in just eight months.
    • #21 Chatbots rose 33% MoM—up from #29 ranking in June 2025.
    • #51 Large Language Models jumped 10% from June 2025 and #39 AI Security also gained 5%.

In contrast, #20 Generative AI dropped 10% from a #16 rank in June 2025, but lower growth does not signal disinterest, rather, it could reflect normalization after sustained peaks. #182 Private AI stood out with the biggest subtopic gain, rising 99% MoM. While still below the Top 150, this strong increase since June shows growing urgency around secure, controlled AI implementations. Privacy and policy continue to be hot topics for AI decisions.

Infrastructure and Efficiency on the Rise

July’s data suggests that while AI remains a dominant theme, backend readiness and enterprise efficiency are top of mind:

    • #18 Data Center climbed 32%.
    • #31 Cloud Computing surged 35%.
    • #50 Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) jumped 35%, breaking into the Top 50.

Organizations increasingly recognize ERP’s strategic role as a key piece of business responsiveness. Recent coverage highlights how ERP systems are modernized with cloud platforms, AI, and predictive analytics that serve real-time insights, drive automation, and streamline workflows.

    Cybersecurity: Stable, but Concerns Shift

#7 Cybersecurity held its ranking (+7% MoM), while niche topics showed mixed signals:

    • Ransomware-as-a-Service (RaaS) spiked 45%.
    • Zero Trust dipped slightly (-10%) but held rank at #99.
    • Secure Access and Email Security both declined slightly, though Cloud Security and Network Security ticked upward.

Core security remains a constant, but specific areas of concern shift month to month.

    Top Takeaways

    1. AI conversations are evolving from creative content to task execution. #12 AI Agents rose 14% month-over-month, while #20 Generative AI declined 10%. This divergence suggests increased enterprise interest in AI that augments specific workflows (e.g., agents embedded in systems) over tools that generate content.
    1. Enterprise infrastructure and operations are accelerating to support AI at scale. #50 Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) jumped 35% and broke into the Top 50, while #18 Data Center surged 32%. These gains reflect growing attention to the systems, architecture, and operational backbones necessary to activate AI investments and drive AI readiness.
    1. Security and privacy remain foundational for AI enablement. #182 Private AI spiked 99%, #93 Data Governance rose 29%, and #56 Cloud Security ticked up 3%, showing sustained interest in keeping AI development aligned with security, compliance, and internal trust standards.

Looking ahead, we’ll watch whether #50 ERP and #133 AI Ethics—all of which made sizable gains—break into the Top 40 or Top 100, respectively. We’ll also keep an eye on Election Security (#191) and Misinformation (#22) as political discourse intensifies and elections draw closer.

What enterprise narrative(s) will take the lead in August? Will governance and automation continue their rise? Will AI coverage increase across the board, or will #182 Private AI break out as the dominant thread as organizations prioritize data privacy and compliance concerns? Stay tuned!
