What do you do at Big Valley Marketing?
I have the pretty amazing job of helping connect the work our clients do to their organizations’ business objectives/priorities. There’s a tendency for some in marketing and comms to just talk about the number of impressions their social posts received or how many stories were published about them. While those are important as proxies, we’re working to better connect those to broader goals like reputation, lead generation, sales, etc.
Why Big Valley Marketing?
I worked in public-sector organizations before Big Valley but after I finished my master’s degree, I met Tim who told me that this thing I had become so interested in – using data and analytics to demonstrate business value – was something I could focus on exclusively here. Not only was that exciting to me, I quickly realized the Big Valley team is made up of amazing people who are intelligent, genuine and fun which made my decision even easier – honestly there were only green flags!
What’s one thing fun or surprising/unexpected about you?
I once bartended for a summer in Dublin! I wanted to travel so I got a working visa, lived in different hostels in the city (including Temple Bar) and worked as a bartender/waitress at a place called the Blarney Inn that was attached to a hotel and had an 80s nightclub in the basement (where I also worked some nights). It was one of the best experiences – Ireland is such a special place and I recommend everyone visit.
