David has been in the technology communications scene in Silicon Valley for more than 25 years. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin (Hook ‘Em Horns!), he studied English because he loved to write. (He still still does.) After that, he worked for two years in broadcast journalism, doing everything from assignment editing and producing to reporting and writing. David’s first public relations gig was at Burson-Marsteller. Over the last quarter-of-a-century, he’s worked at, or with, some of the world’s great brands—Sun Microsystems, Hewlett-Packard and Cisco, for example, but also Series-A startups and everything in-between. David has worked effectively with large, dispersed teams and one-on-one with founders and CEOs. His experience spans the marketing communications spectrum—public relations, sales communications, employee comms, demand gen, marketing. The common thread has always been crafting content that helps business people communicate effectively with their stakeholders. David has penned countless bylines, blogs, press releases, speeches, web and social media copy. Along the way he’s run many a mile in an effort to keep in shape (and sane), attended ~30 Bruce Springsteen concerts (only regretting he didn’t attend more), and is a semi-retired home brewer who still appreciates a great craft beer.
