Raquel Scherr

Director of People Operations
Raquel Scherr is a seasoned People Operations and Human Resources leader with a passion for building thoughtful, inclusive, and high-performing workplace cultures. With over a decade of experience spanning creative agencies, PR firms, and global consultancies, Raquel has led transformative HR initiatives that enhance both employee engagement and organizational effectiveness. Before joining Big Valley Marketing, Raquel held senior people roles at firms including Ketchum, TBWA\Chiat\Day, Wondersauce, and AnalogFolk. She’s known for launching innovative performance management frameworks, DE&I education programs, and wellness strategies that drive real, measurable impact—often during periods of change or rapid growth. Whether scaling HR teams from the ground up or fostering belonging in hybrid or remote workplaces, Raquel’s leadership is always rooted in empathy, transparency, and a clear strategic vision. A SHRM-Certified Professional and yoga teacher, Raquel brings a holistic approach to well-being and team dynamics. She earned her undergraduate degree at Tulane University and began her career in New York City, where she lived and worked for over a decade. Today, Raquel lives in northern New Jersey with her husband (a musician and record label founder) and their beloved rescue dog. When she’s not driving people strategy at work, she’s likely exploring new hiking trails, cross-stitching her latest project, seeing live music, or cheering on the NY Mets. LGM!

Meet Raquel

What do you do at Big Valley Marketing?
At Big Valley, I lead People Operations and Human Resources. Essentially, I’m here to help our people thrive. My work focuses on building a culture where every employee feels valued, supported, and empowered to do their best work. That includes everything from performance management and employee engagement to DEI, benefits, and ensuring we scale our culture as we grow. I believe in blending empathy with strategy, and I’m passionate about creating workplaces that are both high-performing and deeply human.

Why Big Valley Marketing?
I was drawn to Big Valley Marketing because of its clear sense of purpose, collaborative spirit, and commitment to excellence—not only in the work we deliver, but in how we support and celebrate our people. As someone who has spent years building culture in creative and fast-paced environments, I was excited to join a company where people and values truly take center stage. The fully remote structure also reflects a modern, flexible approach to work that I genuinely believe in, and I love being part of a team that’s innovating how marketing and people operations intersect.

What’s one thing fun or surprising/unexpected about you?
I’m equal parts grounded and expressive—whether that’s through my yoga practice, my nail designs, or ten summers at overnight camp. I became a certified yoga instructor in 2019 through Y7 Studio, and wellness and mental health remain core values for me. On the lighter side, I’m also a huge fan of creative nail art (always trying new trends), and I credit my early leadership roots to Pine Forest Camp, where I spent a decade singing campfire songs and learning how to lead with empathy—even before I knew that’s what I was doing.

Helping technology companies for ten years
to grow, win, and lead through effective,
expert-driven marketing and communications.
