Michael Weiss

Practice Leader, Content & Digital
Michael Weiss is the Content Marketing Practice Leader at Big Valley Marketing, where he helps technology companies and mission-driven organizations define their voice, elevate executive visibility, and build content strategies that drive measurable growth. With more than two decades of experience at the intersection of strategy, creativity, and execution, Michael is known as both a trusted advisor in the boardroom and a creative spark in the brainstorm. At Big Valley, Michael specializes in storytelling, content strategy, and thought leadership programs that help brands identify their audiences, clarify what to say, and determine how and where to say it. He has guided leaders and teams in developing customer experiences, content marketing frameworks, and executive communications that inspire engagement, conversion, and loyalty. Previously, Michael founded and ran Figure18, a consultancy focused on content strategy and executive coaching, and co-founded Imagistic, a pioneering web agency that won two Webby Awards and helped establish Silicon Beach as a hub for digital innovation. He also led marketing strategy at Creative Circle, Guitar Center, and other organizations where his work drove revenue growth, brand differentiation, and industry recognition. Beyond his client work, Michael has delivered three TEDx talks, taught at Loyola Marymount University as an adjunct professor of digital marketing, and designed and led “Presentation Elevation” workshops for hundreds of executives and professionals. Michael holds a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Loyola Marymount University and a bachelor’s degree from Boston University. He lives in Southern California with his family, plays bass and guitar, and is currently writing his first book on presentation skills and executive presence.

Meet Michael

What do you do at Big Valley Marketing?
I lead Content and Digital & Social, which means I help turn complex ideas into stories people actually care about. My job sits at the intersection of strategy and execution; building frameworks, shaping narratives, and working with teams to bring it all to life in a way that drives real business outcomes.

Why Big Valley Marketing?
Because it’s a place where strategy actually matters. There’s a genuine commitment to doing smart, thoughtful work; not just producing content for the sake of it. It’s also a team of people who care about getting better every day, which makes it a great place to build something meaningful.

What’s one thing fun or surprising/unexpected about you?
In college I trained monkeys to aid quadriplegics with everyday tasks. Because I was a lowly undergraduate, my job was to potty train the monkeys. The goal was to make sure they went to the bathroom in their cages. When they peed anywhere in the room, I was told to ring a bell and give them applesauce. The first day, my monkey, Melanie, peed all over the place. Four months later, Melanie peed in her cage 64 times in one hour! I would say that was a success!

The picture is to show I once had hair!

Helping technology companies for ten years
to grow, win, and lead through effective,
expert-driven marketing and communications.
