PRESS RELEASE: Big Valley Marketing Launches New Practices – Brand Strategy, Marketing Strategy and Market Intelligence – to Help B2B Tech Companies Improve Brand, Demand and Reputation

    By Tim Marklein | Big Valley | Comments are Closed | 14 April, 2025 | 0

SAN JOSE, Calif., April 14, 2025 – Big Valley Marketing today formally launched three new consulting practices—Brand Strategy, Marketing Strategy, and Market Intelligence—to help B2B technology leaders drive sustainable growth and strengthen brand reputation while navigating rapidly changing markets.

The new practices build on Big Valley’s experience working with leaders and change agents in high-growth markets, including software, AI, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure, supply chain, and digital health. The new practices will help marketing and communications leaders focus more on long-term and short-term strategy development, while tracking outside-in market data and insights to better manage their brand, demand and reputation in today’s complex markets.

“Big Valley was founded to deliver the depth of expertise that technology companies need to improve their marketing and communications,” said Tim Marklein, founder and CEO of Big Valley. “CMOs are under increasing pressure to prove marketing’s value and respond quickly to customer needs, all while managing a broad array of channels and disciplines. Our expanded services will help their teams stay ahead of the market while taking a balanced approach that supports both short-term revenue goals and long-term brand and reputation building.”

Big Valley’s new practices provide expertise, frameworks and insights tailored to the needs of today’s B2B technology marketers, and all informed by in-depth corporate and consulting experience:

    • Brand Strategy – B2B technology buyers have never been harder to win over—with more crowded market segments, longer consideration cycles, more touchpoints, and greater reliance on self-service and community content. Big Valley’s brand-to-demand approach connects brand building, demand generation and corporate reputation to drive both awareness and conversion. This enables every element from brand vision to market positioning to category definition to work together to maximize marketing’s value and impact. This practice is led by Scott Friedman, a 30-year industry veteran in technology brand building.
    • Marketing Strategy – Marketing leaders are under relentless pressure to deliver more impact with fewer resources in an increasingly complex market. Too often, the response is to ramp up tactical execution, churning out campaigns and content without a clear strategic foundation. Big Valley helps leaders take a step back to move forward by developing data-driven, insight-led strategies that align marketing initiatives with business objectives. From annual planning and audience segmentation to competitive strategy and customer advocacy, this practice provides the expertise to ensure marketing is recognized as a growth engine (not a cost center). This practice is led by Mel Johnson, a B2B marketing leader with 15+ years of experience in corporate and product marketing for software and digital health companies.
    • Market Intelligence – Technology companies have detailed insight about sales pipelines and demand performance, but precious little intelligence on brand perceptions, audience influences, market conversations and industry trends. Big Valley’s Market Intelligence practice delivers the missing insight on brands, categories, competition, audiences, channels and conversations. The team’s experts in research, analytics and measurement apply a range of methods and tools to uncover the data – and make sense of it by distilling the “So What” insights and “Now What” recommendations to inform sound decisions, strategy and actions. This practice is led by founder and CEO Tim Marklein, a recognized expert in research, analytics and strategy.

The three new practices integrate with Big Valley’s award-winning expertise in Content Marketing, Corporate Communications, and Digital and Social Marketing. Working together or separately, practice teams collaborate in a variety of ways to meet client needs – from workshops, audits and projects to long-term campaigns, always-on services and fractional leadership engagements.
